27th February Walk - Point Pilcher track
The start of the track - originally a coach track to the lookout and a walking track to the Grand Canyon track.
Happy camper!!
Mountain Devil.
Another flowering beauty.
The organised walk was cut short because of a landslide ~ so we went looking elsewhere: here is a view from Narrow Neck towards a dirt road that leads to the Ruined Castle walk.
As above.
View across Megalong Valley from Cahills Lookout
Week 2 - biking and hiking. Click photo to enlarge
Almost back to base at The Conservation Hut is Queen Victoria lookout ~ I'm sure she would have been pleased at the vista.

Lunch at Glenleigh 22nd February
The house - Glenleigh was built in the 1880's by James Ewan, a shipping merchant, businessman and philanthropist as his "country residence".
Glenleigh houses' distinctive appearance stems from the unusual bricks it is built with. They were shipped across from England as the ballast in James Ewan's merchant ships. The most impressive detail in Glenleigh is the ornate work on the ceilings. Two Italian artists were brought to Autralia by James Ewan to create these masterpieces. Each room displays a medallion which is uniquely suited to its use - musicians and opera singers in the Music Room, writers in the Library, and fish, hare and birds in the Dining Room.

Graeme and Kevin provided the venue and Donald served up a fine lunch.

But another Jack stole the show - as always.

A friendly round of canasta?

No it looks more like a serious game is under way.

Whats sort of cards is Graeme holding ... hard to read the smile on the dial.

Kevin reads out the score whilst the vanquished drown their sorrow ~ we all got thrashed by Jack.

Finally we meet daffy Duck!!

Admiring the craftmenship of Kev and Graeme with the new look staircase.

.... and crystal reflections .... the dining room chandeleir

Aussie odyssey 2009 ~ in the beginning
Jack arrived on Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong at 9pm on Wednesday 18th February 2009. There was just enough time to shake off the jetlag and swap the news from home and Australia before setting off on the first bushwalk.

This was on Friday 20th to Govett's Leap as part of the regular Friday bushwalk team that Mike goes with.
The view across the valley was quite misty - hence this shot of Jack with some of the team behind him.
We walked down to the waterfall then retraced our steps and went further north to look back at the full view of the falls - quite spectacular!!
As usual we stopped for a break and a chance for a bit more of a gossip. The group leader, Margaret, is centre shot. She is a wirey Yorkshire lady ~ full of energy.
The gum trees were shedding their bark - like a snake sheds its skin. Unfortunately, this helps provide fuel for bushfires.
The water looks OK to drink from some of these 'mountain streams'.Unfortunately it is not the case though!!
Home at last - and a chance for a welcome cup of tea and a cigarette with Donald.
